{lately}

it's been pretty quiet over here.
here are some photos of whats been going on in our little neck of the woods!
****************************
i am 10 days away from my marathon.  i am getting excited but a little nervous as well.  there has been lots of runs over the last several weeks.  i have stuck to my training plan pretty well, so here's hoping it goes well!

****************************
we have been taking advantage of the warmer weather, trying to spend lots of time outside!

 ****************************
we took a camping trip to the lake.  and enjoyed some sunny {but super windy} days on the lake.  went on lots of bike rides, and just enjoyed some family time together, away from home.

 ****************************
we also finally got around to painting our master bedroom.  this has been in the plans for months.  i am so glad to have it finished.  it is nice to have a fresh blank slate, and i'm looking forward to doing some decorating! I've been working on a bedroom makeover board pinterest... we'll see what ideas i end up using.  decorating is not something i am very good at!

what have you been up to lately?!

pumpkin patch: 2013

{october 6th} we took b to eagle fork farms for our annual pumpkin patch visit.
we have been going here since 2010.  it is right up the road from our house and is such a cute little pumpkin patch.

it was a really windy day, but not too cold to enjoy ourselves.  a nice brisk day that finally was feeling like fall.
we kept ourselves warm with cups of hot chocolate.  yum.
b still loves john deere tractors.  he asked to get his picture taken by it.

we took a hayride down to the fields for pick your own pumpkins.

b and daddy, looking for the perfect pumpkin

this is the required photo for the visit...
we've been taking these pics since our first trip when he was 6 days old!
this is the first year he was finally big enough to ride the mini tractors.  he wasn't quite strong enough to pedal through the gravel without some help though.
and b rode a pony too.  he was so excited to get to ride on them this year. last year he was pretty uneasy!

since the weather was so nice... we decided to swing over to valley farms pumpkin patch too.  they aren't as big as the other one, but they have a beautiful hayride and a small petting zoo.  so of course, we had to go there too.

{p.s. i am backdating these posts so in the future (like if i ever get caught up on my photo books) they will be in the right order... }

mommy and brody date day

back in my 33 before 33 post, i mentioned that i wanted to have a monthly mommy and brody outing.  so, last week i asked brody what he wanted to do for our mommy & brody day.
his plans were very detailed...
first up. watching netflix on the ipad.
then, a walk ride around the block in his monster truck.
with a stop to watch the neighborhood construction crew
and pick some flowers for mommy.
we ran a few errands, including a stop at office max
for our actual outing, b requested a 'pizza picnic at the park'.
so a pizza picnic we had.
the park near our house has a nature classroom, where kids can use items found in nature to play, build and make music.  we spent quite a long time in the outdoor classroom.
b had so much fun, he wore himself out.
more updates to come... we have had lots of summertime adventures we need to catch you all up on!

(almost) a country boy

this past weekend, we took a little family get-away (with the perrone family) to an off-road park in southern missouri.
the big boys had fun playing in the mud with their jeeps.
the little boys spent the weekend being cute (and alternately fighting with each other), playing with monster trucks, throwing rocks in the pond and driving their remote control rock crawlers in the mud.
it was a real 'boy' weekend.
there was lots of yummy food at least.
and b got brave and fraternized with a turtle, a moth and a (very tiny) frog.

all that fresh air wore him out! he slept all the way home :)
