Happy Turkey Day

our thanksgiving started off with the macy's thanksgiving day parade (and coffee of course!)
brody loved watching the parade (im not too sure what we actually captured on the tv...)
while everyone was lounging around, i took advantage and snuck out for a 6 mile run.  it was so nice to be in shorts at the end of november!
our table all ready.  don't judge my one mismatched plate.  i had one more person than i have dishes.  (maybe i should hint to my hubby for another set of dishes?!)
cody self assigned the task of the mashed potatoes.  he did good work.
 green beans and bacon.  yum.
 barb, robert and patrick.
{i wish i would have taken pics of everyone all the way around the table}
b ate a little of everything.  the only thing he didn't like was black olives.  i think he thought they were grapes...so who can blame him.
papa in his seat, assigned especially by brody.
we are both smiling, and our eyes are open.  amazing.
brody and grandma decided to skip turkey day and move right into christmas crafts.
we also celebrate papa's birthday during thanksgiving.  we made him a really yummy carrot cake.  i sent the rest home with them and wish i would have put a piece in my freezer.  it sure would taste good right about now!
b and grammy getting ready for cake and presents
we had a great day and are thankful for all of our family and for the time we get to spend with all of them.  we missed our uncle jeff in california and our uncle shaun out in colorado, but hoping to see everyone for christmas.

{p.s. i am back dating this post (to thanksgiving) so it will be in order later when I go back to work on b's photo book!}

A family bike ride

sunday, we took my bike out for its maiden voyage.

we really enjoyed our first ride as a family.  we ventured down the katy trail, from defiance to augusta and back.
a 15 mile ride total.
with a few stops to get sticks/leaves/etc at little man's request!
our view along the trail

we stopped for lunch (and a drink) at the Augusta Brewery.
my first pumpkin beer of the season.  yum.
the company was pretty cute too!

some more views from the trail

brody says "i like bike rides momma".
here's hoping the weather cooperates for a few more weeks and we can squeeze in a few more rides before it gets too cold!

the pumpkin patch

we managed to squeeze a quick trip to the pumpkin patch right before halloween.  on october 20th, we took a quick trip up the road to eagle fork pumpkin patch.
the first time we brought brody here, he was six days old.  compare previous years photos here!
 he is getting so tall!
there were pony rides.  b's horse was named 'fanny'.
we took a wagon ride down to the field for 'pick your own pumpkins'.  this was the first year that they offered this option.  it was neat to see all the different shapes, sizes and colors available.
those pumpkin vines were tricky! b took a pretty good face plant into the vines.
we hope you enjoyed our recap of our family trip to the pumpkin patch!

the magic house

we are very lucky to have a pretty cool children's museum here in st. louis.  a few weeks back, they hosted "big truck day", so of course, we had to take our digger lovin' boy.
admission included a hard hat, a hot dog lunch, admission to the magic house, plus a chance to get up close and personal with some real construction trucks!
he thought getting to see these trucks up close was the coolest thing ever.
there was digging in the dirt...
 mystery solving...
 twisty slide riding...
 car driving...
 crazy momma hair...
and of course making our pressed penny's that we collect.
---------
brody had a great time, and we are looking forward to many more trips in the future.
