Summer Class = Finished and 29 weeks Pregnant

Here is your all important belly pic.  I know I have been slacking:
And... At 29 weeks, Brody is as big as a Butternut Squash.  Can't you see the resemblance:

I have worked really hard this summer, and am so happy to say that everything is finished.  My group project has been finalized, and each group member has given permission for the paper to be submitted.  I did my group evaluation form and finished up all my module questions.  Hooray!

I have exactly ONE month off before fall classes start, so that means it is crunch time for all Baby Brody business.  I of course have grand plans of everything I want to get accomplished this month, however right now all I want to do is take a nap!

Plans include:
Brody Related Items:
1. finish hanging the closet doors
2. hang the curtain rod and curtains
3. wall decorations and shelfs
4. getting glass cut for the top of the changing table
5. finding an end table to put next to the rocker
6. Baby Shower
7. Maternity Pictures
8. Reading the natural childbirth, breast feeding and parenting books I have been putting off
9. Taking a childbirth class??

Miscellaneous Stuff:
1. Paint our bedroom
2. Finish painting the bathroom
3. Massive cleaning and organizing of our house - I think I used up all my energy nesting at Wendee's!
4. Finish my marathon scrapbook
5. Have Laura teach me how to digital scrapbook
6. Get a massage

It sounds like I had better get moving, huh?

Doctors Appointment Update

We are now officially into the third trimester.  Can you believe it!?!  Our doctors appointment was pretty uneventful.  We now start seeing the doctor every 2 weeks.

Brody's heart beat was strong, measuring 140 bpm.  My blood pressure is still good, as is my weight gain.  I have already gained 25 pounds.  Yikes!  The doctor says that I am still within normal for how far along I am.  I guess that was the advantage of not gaining much during the first part of my pregnancy.  I keep thinking that I still have 13 weeks left... gaining 1 pound a week I (minimum) I may just be in big trouble!

I had to get my RhoGam injection today.  My blood type is negative and Cody's is positive, so the RhoGam helps keep my body from producing antibodies if Brody's blood type ends up being positive like his daddy.

27 weeks

27 Weeks Pregnant

Most babies this age, yours included, still like to snuggle in a slightly curled position inside the uterus (thus the term "fetal position"). Even so, beginning at this stage, your baby's length will be measured from top of head to toe — which makes your baby nearly a full 15 inches now. And at just over two pounds, he or she has doubled in weight from four weeks ago.
Your baby's auditory development (hearing) is progressing as the network of nerves to the ears matures. And even though the sounds your baby hears are muffled (thanks to the creamy coating of vernix covering those ears), he or she may recognize both yours and your partner's voices. So this might be a good time to read and even sing to your baby (or rather, your belly) — and a good chance to start boning up on those nursery rhymes and lullabies you'll need to be repeating (and repeating) pretty soon. And while you're at it, here's another way to have some family fun: If your partner presses his ear to your belly, he might be able to hear the baby's heartbeat.
Your baby's taste buds are very developed now too (with more taste buds than he or she will ever have outside the womb, actually). Need a taste test? If you eat some spicy food (you hot mama, you), your baby will be able to taste the difference in the amniotic fluid (but keep in mind that you'll have different mealtimes, with your baby's coming about two hours after yours). Some babies will even respond to that spicy kick by hiccupping. And although hiccups (which feel like belly spasms to you) may seem like they're disturbing to your baby, he or she isn't stressed at all. It's just one more sensation that babies need to get used to.

Birthday Dinner #2

Had dinner at Cracker Barrel tonight with my dad and brother for my birthday.  (B'day dinner #1 was at Wendee & Jeremy's on my actual birthday, and #3 will be later this week!)
This is the first picture where I look as FAT as I feel these days!

Holiday Weekend

I'll warn you in advance, this is a really LONG post!

Friday, we headed down to Beaufort to spend the evening at one of Cody's coworkers family farm.  We had a great time.  We took the four-wheelers out (carefully, I promise Mom!), had a bonfire, BBQ'd and just plain relaxed.

(Yes, I know there will be many sarcastic comments to follow...)
(and yes Jenna, this is the closest I have ever been to a cow)

Brody's First Four Wheeling Adventure

Saturday afternoon took the Wrangler on the scenic drive home through Washington into Foristell.  It was nice to be able to take the Jeep out with the top down, but we were both a sweaty mess when we got home.  After cooling down, we headed over to Wendee & Jeremy's for dinner.  They grilled for my birthday and ate homemade lemon meringue pie (Thanks Sue!).  Then we trekked down to the boat docks for their subdivision's fireworks display.  I apologize to all involved, as I was having a BAD case of pregnancy hormone crabbiness!

Sunday morning, I was up bright and early to go into work.  Twelve glorious hours later I was on my way home for Geri & Jerry's Annual Fireworks display.  We had a really good time.  Nice to know that the pregnancy induced crabbiness only lasted one day.  I'm sure Cody is more than happy about that.

I spent most of today catching up.  School work, laundry, dishes, laundry, more school work and some procrastinating.  It was almost nice!
