so, i think this terrible twos thing is legit. b is exerting his independence at everything. he doesn't quite know how to deal with his emotions and gets really frustrated when he can't communicate something or do what he's attempting himself. 

after a few days of really testing my patience, this little boy was an absolute angel tonight. sweet and loving, and listened well. ate his dinner without needing to be convinced, played happily in the tub and went to bed without getting up with a million excuses. 

it's amazing what getting back to a routine does for a kiddo. After a 5 day hiatus from school, both b and momma were ready for routine again!

(almost) a country boy

this past weekend, we took a little family get-away (with the perrone family) to an off-road park in southern missouri.  

the big boys had fun playing in the mud with their jeeps.

the little boys spent the weekend being cute (and alternately fighting with each other), playing with monster trucks, throwing rocks in the pond and driving their remote control rock crawlers in the mud.  

 it was a real 'boy' weekend.  

there was lots of yummy food at least.

and b got brave and fraternized with a turtle, a moth and a (very tiny) frog.  

all that fresh air wore him out! he slept all the way home :)

we've been MIA again, right? 

here are some pics from our rafting trip last week on the Current River.  

b loved the water and did a great job wearing his life jacket and helping daddy paddle the raft.

 daddy was catching crawdads.  b thought they were cool...but was skiddish about touching it.

we enjoyed our float, and would love to take b out for another adventure on the river.

After a close, silent inspection of the car (and no comments/provoking from me). "Momma, that's a nice car". 

B: what are they making?!

Me: a pharmacy. 

B: a pharmacy?! For cows?!

And the kicker...(to his teacher):

"Ms. Netta, are you chocolate?" 

Not sure how often we will have funnies, but I will try to make notes and post them when I can.

So, I was doing so well with the blog posts. Until I wasn't. So here's the question. Does anyone even read this? (Mom and grandma, your votes don't count) is it worth my time? Do you all like our updates?
Please leave me some feedback. What do you want to read about? All Brody, all the time? House redecorating, recipes, marathon training? Or are we better off leaving the blog to the crickets?

to run, or not to run...

for today's Move it Monday post, i thought i would let you all weigh in on my decision whether or not to sign up for sunday's half marathon.  

so, i was supposed to run the Alton Half Marathon March 23rd.  i spent many weeks of the last few months sick.  coughing.coughing.coughing.  i decided (along with some strict instructions from my pulmonologist) that it was in my best interest to sit it out.  then, i have spent the last several weeks being a lazy bum.  i want to be running, but it has just gotten too easy to sleep in and eat whatever is there and be genuinely lazy.  blah.

I was hoping signing up for another race would help motivate me again.  i know that running a half right now would be hard.  but thats the point, right?! kick my behind back in gear.  the trouble is... i have run this race before.  i hate it.  i don't like the course, its not very well crowd supported, and i have to drive almost an hour to get there for a 7am start time. oh, and it is $85 $55 (thanks to a friend with a discount code) since i am signing up a week before.  my hubby's advice was to run the 13.1 miles at my local park and he would make me a medal...

happy easter everyone!  

we had a great day celebrating & hope you all did too.

get ready for a photo heavy post.  don't say i didn't warn you!

this is a creepy bunny, but we have seen him every year since b was little.  there were no tears this year.  he ran right up and gave him a hug. 

yesterday, (while i was at work) b dyed eggs with his grandma.  she said they had such a good time.

last night before bed, we set out a snack for the easter bunny, b's basket and eggs for the bunny to hide, plus a picture brody colored for the bunny.  

he was so excited this morning to see what the easter bunny left him.  

we hunted eggs.  b had to open each egg and sort its contents into piles before we could move on to the next egg.  (i wonder who he gets that from, lol).  we had 70 eggs.  next year, bunny gets less eggs. 

we had a great family lunch.  everyone ate too much.

 too.much.food.

b was very spoiled.  he got baskets from grandma, grandpa, grammy & papa and a toy golf set from aunt barb, uncle pat and cousin robert. 

we all went out to the garage to see the easter surprise daddy bought for b.  

needless to say... he loved it.

 of course, its a jeep bike.

we had a little outdoor photo session and another egg hunt in the front yard.  

 i wish i wasn't squinting in every photo we took :(

 we recreated a picture my dad took of me on his vette when i was a baby.  i am going on a mission to find it.
