who am i kidding... i can't do anything wordlessly...

{a trip to the zoo last week}

the high was 80 degrees.  our first really warm spring day.  

so we played hooky from school.  obviously.  because, wouldn't you?! 

{don't be jealous, the next day it was high of 36* and snowing}

 friends. 

 um, adorable, right?

buddies. and ice cream.  

enough said.

 not much baby left in this little boy, but those eyelashes...they get me every time.

he leaned in to kiss me, then decided to roar like a dinosaur.

cute. but really? i'm tired of the roaring, please tell me its a phase?!

{life}

it seems like life is just whizzing by, as fast as it can... leaving us barely able to keep up.  i am having a hard time believing that in 2 months, b will be 3!

so, here is a replay of some of our ordinary days...

we found a little swimming hole at our local park, which we had a blast splashing and playing in.  

(of course, we found out shortly afterwards, there is contaminated water there... so we won't be back)

there have been multiple trips to the zoo...

working in the garden with daddy...

lots of cleaning and organizing...

cooking up new & yummy recipes...

a mommy & daddy weekend away with lots of good friends...

 mommy runs...

and mommy & brody run/walks.

(i don't think i will ever get to the point of being able to run much distance with this dang stroller)

an emergency visit to the dentist for mommy...

trips to the playground...

playing in the rain...

and a long week with a sick little guy... 

a few doctors appointments, a chest X-ray, 1 ear infection and a case of viral pneumonia... 

finally, after a full week, brody is starting to feel a little better!

what have you been up to in your busy lives? can you believe summer is almost over?

wild lights.

one of the things i wanted to add to our holiday traditions this year was a visit to our zoo's holiday light display.  

we dressed brody in lots of layers,  loaded him into his stroller, decked him out with christmas lights and headed to the zoo.  

we got tons of compliments on the lights on his stroller.  

(i can't take credit for the idea though... thanks mikayla for the great idea at boo at the zoo this fall)

the three of us, outside the penguin house. 

we had a little encounter at the penquin house.  b is still talking about it.  

we were getting up close and personal with some of the penguins.  i was actually holding brody and a "juvenile" penquin, by the name of abby, came up and splashed us both.  we were pretty well soaked.  brody has been telling the story over and over of how the penny got him and mommy wet.

 we had a little dinner...

 took some pictures...

 and visited with an elf.  

 

they had a great light display. we will definitely be adding this to our yearly holiday traditions!
