Santa

We took Brody to Alton Square Mall to see Santa today.  This was a much more successful trip, as there wasn't a huge line to wait in.  Assuming that Santa didn't mind a little baby puke, that is...

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.
My momma and daddy had a great turkey dinner with my Grandma, Grammy, Pa-Pa and Uncle Jeff.  We had fire burning in the fireplace, I watched everyone eat turkey, we celebrated Pa-Pa's birthday, and finished up the evening with several games of Wii Bowling.  I think it turned out to be a successful day for my first thanksgiving!

one minute at a time

For those of you who know me well, you know that I had planned out just how my labor, delivery and recovery were going to go.  What is it they say about the best laid plans?!  Now that I have a c-section and a full 6 weeks of recovery under my belt, I am beginning to regret that full marathon I signed up for when I was 38 weeks pregnant.  October 23, 2011 will be here before I know it.

My biggest fear about needing a c-section was how long it would take me to get back to running again.  I already had to give it up during the majority of my pregnancy thanks to a potential placenta previa, and I knew that I was going to have to start from square one.

Square one was today.  Last thursday I had my 6 week check up.  The doctor said everything looks great and that I could go back to my exercise routine after sunday (which was the official 6 week date).  So today, I bundled up the baby and loaded the jog stroller in the car.  I had just planned on going on another walk, but I figured what the heck.  I walked about 2 minutes and then tentatively started jogging.  I ran for 1 minute, then walked again for 2 minutes.  Repeated x 20 minutes, then I finished up by walking the remainder of the 3 mile loop.

So, was it easy?
Nope.

Did it hurt?
Not as much as I expected.

Am I going to be sore tomorrow?
Absolutely.

What I do know is it's going to take me a long time to get back in shape!

Bass Pro Shop

Clarksville, IN has the best Bass Pro Shop I have ever been to.  So, of course we had to take Brody there.  It was all set up for Christmas and was really pretty.  Santa was there, and we decided to get Brody's picture taken with him. This was my first Mommy FAIL.  Santa didn't arrive until 12:00, and when we got there at 11:50 there wasn't anyone around, so we walked around the store for awhile.  I didn't know there would be a mad rush, and we ended up standing in line for an hour, just for a picture!

Brody's 1st Trip

We took Brody to Indiana over the weekend, to visit Cody's family.  We headed up on Friday evening and came home on Sunday evening.

We had a great time visiting with everyone.  We drove up to Huber's Winery and ate lunch and picked up a few bottles of wine.  Then we came home and the cousins played for awhile.  Sunday we slept in a little bit, had breakfast, took a trip to Bass Pro, had lunch and then headed home.  Brody was very good in the car, sleeping most of the way.  He did pretty well sleeping in the pack in play, and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

Boy, do you need alot of stuff to take a baby on a trip!  I wasn't sure what we would need, so I brought:
the pack & play, the play mat, two receiving blankets, the blue floor blanket, three toys, the video monitor, the sound machine, a fan, 5 outfits, 3 onesies, 2 pairs of pj's, 8 pairs of socks, 6 burp cloths, 2 packs of diapers, wipes, tylenol, mylicon, Gripe water, A&D ointment, and a thermometer.  Hey, you never know!

Mommy Mush Brains

My brain, running away.

So, after taking all that time to make sure the birth announcements were just right, I looked at the proof this morning and had put Brody's birth weight in backwards.  He was 8 pounds 6 ounces, and I put it in as 6 pounds 8 ounces.  I immediately got on the phone with Shutterfly, and after about 45 minutes of talking to someone (who had to be in India) I was able to cancel my order.  So, I plan to reorder them today or tomorrow.

Other recent mush brain situations:
The other day I couldn't remember the code to get in the garage and I had to call Jeremy for it because I couldn't get ahold of Cody at work...

I had to ask Cody which was bigger: million or billion...

I was working so hard on my final paper for Health Policy last week, that I sort of forgot I had another class that I had to complete weekly discussion questions for...

Pathetic, right?!

I sure do hope that my brain comes back soon, because it sure is hard to function this way.

Busy Bee's

We have been keeping busy in the Loveless household over the last week.
Walking at the park
We finally ordered our birth announcements tonight.  The proof online looks really cute.
I am excited for them to be delivered.

I finished up and turned in my final paper for my Healthcare Policy class, and am starting to work on my final project for my Finance class.  I just need to hang in there a little bit longer.  The semester ends December 10th.  Next semester I am taking a Research class, but it doesn't start until January 18.  I am going to take advantage of those last few weeks of my maternity leave, without any classes!

Cody got a new toy today.  Just what every 30 year old needs... A remote control helicopter.
We went into JC Penney's to pick up a few things, and Cody found it on a table advertising Christmas presents and just had to have it.  He has been flying it all around the living room!

A Lunch Date

Today, Brody and I had lunch with Reva.

Reva is a friend of mine from work, who also happens to be a labor & delivery nurse.  She voluntarily came in on her day off to deliver Brody, not knowing what she was getting herself into!
12+ hours and a c-section later...

One Month

One month ago, our life changed forever.  At 6:08 am, a handsome 8 pound 6 ounce little man turned our family of two into three.  I had no idea that you could love something so little, so much.  I have been enjoying our time home together, and I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to stay home for so long with him.

Sitting in my big boy chair
We have been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather this week and going on walks almost every day before winter seeps in on us.  We are working on tummy time, and he is starting to hold his head up on his own.  He has the cutest expressions and is starting to make really happy sounds as well.  We are still using the cloth diapers (so excuse his big ole butt in his pics).  We are FINALLY getting over the hump of not wanting to go to sleep at night, he is napping in his crib and sleeping 4-5 hours in between feedings at night.  Momma is really happy about that!
Ok, enough with the camera momma!
